The Virtual Museum of the University of Barcelona presents the Oriol Martorell Collection. Oriol Martorell (1927-1996) was a musical director and teacher and this collection, donated to the University by Martorell’s family soon after his death, constitutes one of the most complete archives on the history of twentieth-century Catalan choral music. During his life, Martorell combined his intense activity as a teacher with the direction of the Sant Jordi Choir. He was characterized by his active political allegiance to the Left and by his defence of Catalan culture and language, as the collection shows.
